When we traveled to Laos last fall, it is not easy to fly into Laos from Oregon so we had fly into another country, and chose Vietnam. We knew Vietnam was huge, and would only have a few days, so we could choose between Hanoi or Da Nang as our entry point, and we ended up picking Da Nang. We had 5 days to explore as much of Da Nang and the surrounding area as possible, and we absolutely fell in love with Vietnam! We stayed in Hoi An at the Hoi An Riverside Villas, and loved it! The place was great and the staff was so friendly! The Riverside villas were a little outside of the downtown area, but they have bikes to use, and grab (which is Vietnam's rideshare app) is so easy to use, plus their pool was great after a day of exploring. We honestly wish we had more days to explore, but we definitely filled our days. Between riding the basket boat, taking a lantern boat ride, going to the night market, eating a million banh mis, we were busy! But the golden bridge at Ba Na Hills is amazing to see in person!!

In October, we did something crazy! We trekked for 5 days and over 40 miles from Cusco, Peru to Machu Picchu! If you've never been to Peru, or never heard of this, the Salkantay trek is a popular trekking route that goes from the Andes Mountains to the Amazon jungle and ends at Machu Picchu, with elevation up to 15,000 feet!
